Waldrum ends screening exercise tomorrow ahead Falcons

Super Falcons coach, Randy Waldrum, is expected to end the screening exercise for the Super Falcons crucial tie against the Lady Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire in the Women’s Nations Cup (AWCON) qualifiers slated for February next year tomorrow.Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, the Falcons’ Media Officer, Oluchi Tobechukwu, said that 15 home-based and 15 foreign-based players, mostly new invitees are currently in Abuja jostling to join the main Super Falcons team for the qualifiers.
She stated that the Falcons coach decided to open a training camp in November to prepare early enough for the game against Cote d’Ivoire and also to discover new players that would be added to the known players to boost the Nigerian senior female national squad.
“The Super Falcons coach invited 30 domestic and foreign-based players to camp in Abuja. The coach does not want to take any chance ahead of the qualifier against Cote d’Ivoire apart from preparing for the qualifiers.
“Players invited are also going through strict screening exercise to be selected and added to the main team that will battle the Ivoiriens next year.
“Waldrum is working towards raising a formidable Super Falcons’ squad. Final camp for the game against Cote d’Ivoire will open next year,” she said.
The Super Falcons defeated Ghana 2-1 on aggregate to set up the duel against the Lady Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire.
The first leg is fixed for February 13, next year while the return leg will hold in Abidjan four days later.
