The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. General Shuaibu Ibrahim has charged corps members in Ekiti State to dedicate themselves to the service of their fatherland.
General Ibrahim who gave the advice during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2021 Batch ‘C’ Stream I corps members deployed to Ekiti urged the corps members to continue to demonstrate a high level of discipline and enthusiasm throughout the exercise.
He said the orientation course will prepare them physically and mentally for their expected contributions to the progress and development of our fatherland.
The NYSC DG who was represented by the scheme Coordinator in the state, Mrs. Mary Chikezie at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Ise-Orun/Emure Ekiti stressed the need for them to familiarize themselves with the content of both the NYSC Act and the NYSC Bye-Laws.
He highlighted the camp activities to include, lessons on the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC, leadership coaching, paramilitary drills and other physical training as well as sensitization on topical national issues, amongst others.
According to him, ‘You are expected to avail yourselves of this unique opportunity by participating actively in all the aforementioned programs.
“You are expected to comply strictly with the set rules and regulations and be obedient to your course officials.
“Let me use this opportunity to caution you against indulgence in cultism, drug abuse, and other social vices”.
”You must be security conscious, and avoid putting yourselves in harm’s way.
